Hi Monica,
This could definitely be a transmission slipping issue. Are you in Colorado? If so, please call your nearest AAMCO location and ask for a diagnostic, majority of our locations also offer towing options to get your car safely to the shop. But, let's get this fixed so that you can drive safely. I'm surprised a mechanic replaced items and didn't offer you options to fix your vehicle or diagnose it. Let our guys take a look for you.

Hi Joshua,
I can't be sure without diagnosing the vehicle but it definitely sounds like your transmission is slipping. If this continues it will be dangerous for the health of the vehicle and mainly the heart, the transmission. You can bring your car in for a free diagnosis at one of our locations and we'd be happy to assess the situation for you. Here are our locations: https://www.aamcocolorado.com/locations/

I'm in Nashville TN with an 05 VW Jetta. Auto transmission that won't shift as I drive. By the time I get to 50-60 mph the car is pulling 4500-5000 RPM. Check engine light on. No noises, no smells, no shifting, just increase in RPM with speed. I have checked with a Transmission place and needless to say they have made me won't to search elsewhere for answers. The mechanic says he needs to do exploratorive surgery to find a bullet hole. Basically he doesn't know what to look for until he gets into the transmission. I'm hoping it to be fluid or something else like the ECM or a bad connection.

Francis,
If you are having trouble shifting gears this could indicate a larger problem with your transmission. Unfortunately, we can not diagnose your vehicle without seeing it in one of our service centers. If you are local to Colorado stop by one of 14 Colorado AAMCO Service centers and we can perform a free diagnostic check on your vehicle where we can access any repair needs your vehicle may have.
Thanks,
AAMCO Colorado
