I recently took my 2016 mitsubishi lancer es awc 2.4l with 32,000 miles on it to the dealership due to some concerns I had about the way it was running. It has a CVT. The mechanic in the dealership service department said I was 1 to 2 quarts low on transmission fluid but that there isn't any leaks or anything wrong. Is this even possible? I find it pretty far-fetched that I could be that low on transmission fluid without any type of leak. I went ahead and did the flush and fill anyways because it is recommended every 30k in the maintenance schedule for my vehicle. Now I am worried something more sinister going on. Either they just tried to sell me on the flush and fill so they could make a bit of money and not just do a free diagnostic, or my transmission has a leak or something. please advise? Thank you in advance!

The transmission is a closed system, and typically if the fluid is low it indicates a leak. However, we can not say for sure if there is something going on, or not going on with your car unless we see it in one of our service centers. We do offer a free transmission diagnosis at all 14 of our Colorado centers.
