Is It Time For Your Next Car Tune-Up?
A new year is a time of great excitement, but also a reminder of all of the things you need to get done this year that you neglected last year. Now that the rush of the holiday season is done and life has had time to settle back into a routine, you can start working through the mental list you’ve made. Why not start with your car. You’ve got a lot of things to take care of, and making sure your car is in great condition may help to silence that nagging voice asking you, “did I forget something?”

What Is An Auto-Tune Up Service?
We Thorough Check Each System In Your Car
Much like you visit the doctor once a year for a wellness check, essentially a tune-up is that appointment for your car! Tune-ups are about more than just increasing your vehicle’s gas mileage. While this is a noticeable result of a tune-up, this inspection goes much deeper and helps to identify any potential concern which should be addressed (hopefully before it has a chance to become a full-blown fiasco). During your visit, we will inspect and adjust every system which contributes to efficient fuel economy, install new spark plugs, review error codes, and more.
What To Expect During A Car Tune-Up
It is not uncommon for these appointments to take a little more time than an oil change would. We take the time to check fluid levels, filters, valves, battery, and electrical system… If your cars got it, we want to see it. There are a few services you can expect to take place during this visit, and we will address a few of the most common fixes resolved by tune-ups.
- Auto Battery & Charging Systems – Batteries don’t always give a signal that they are wearing out or need to be replaced. We inspect battery connections, the condition of the battery case, alternator belts, voltage and current, hardware, and more. Typically, any battery older than 3 years should be considered for replacement. Having a battery that doesn’t hold a charge very well can cause a lot of extra wear on other engine components.
- Spark Plugs – These little parts have a big role to play in making a vehicle operational. Spark plugs are responsible for creating a spark which ignites the fuel and air combination in your engine which starts the vehicle. As the engine starts, there are little pistons that begin to move around, which allows your vehicle to power up, but also evenly combusts the compressed air-fuel mixture.
- Odd Car Sounds – There are quite a few areas within your car that can begin to make unusual sounds when they’re needing replacement. A few common concerns are issues with the transmission, power steering, brakes, or other engine issues. Oftentimes a sound indicates the early stages of an issue but should be addressed right away before anything else can be affected, or worse.
- Exhaust & Muffler Repair – Your emission and exhaust systems are mounted on the undercarriage of your car and can become damaged by potholes, cold weather and ice, debris, and can be hazardous to your health if these systems are damaged and not fixed. During this inspection, we will ensure the muffler, exhaust pipes, oxygen sensor, and all other critical components are up to par and working properly.
- Timing Belt or Timing Chain – While this belt (or in some cases, chain) doesn’t require a lot of attention over the course of a vehicle’s life, when the time comes for it to be replaced, you’ve got a small window of time to address it. A timing belt is an industrial strength piece of rubber that is responsible for connecting and synchronizing your engine’s functions. If this belt breaks, the damage is almost always costly and timely. The average recommendation for replacing this belt is every 60,000-100,000 miles.
