Signs Of Transmission Failure
Poor/No Acceleration
Your transmission powers your car and transfers that power to your wheels. Put simply, without a working transmission, your car isn’t going anywhere or isn’t going anywhere quickly. If you find that your car has lost all acceleration and refuses to gain speed no matter how hard you hit the gas, this is a tell tale sign of transmission failure. If your car refuses to move at all, your transmission is in dire need of repair.
It’s incredibly important to bring your car into a trusted AAMCO mechanic so they can properly perform a Vehicle Courtesy Check and diagnostic to determine the cause of transmission failure. AAMCO Colorado is the transmission expert and will pinpoint any issues & get you back on the road.
Jolting or Chugging When Shifting
If you find that your shifting performance isn’t right and the car is jolting or chugging when shifting, this is a sign of a failed or failing transmission. The car shouldn’t be jumping forward with each gear shift and shouldn’t refuse to go into gear while driving. This can create hazardous driving conditions and you should pull over as soon as possible. If the car is refusing to switch gears, is making odd grinding noises or refuses to move then transmission failure is the culprit.
Don’t continue driving your car if you find your car won’t shift properly. Get your car into an AAMCO Colorado location and we can do a total car care analysis. We guarantee our services with the best nationwide warranty.
Overheating
If you find that your transmission is overheating you may smell burning transmission fluid or detect heat coming from the dashboard area of your car. An overheated transmission is usually caused by low transmission fluid levels or old transmission fluid that isn’t flowing properly throughout the transmission effectively cooling it down and lubricating it. Additionally, a transmission fluid leak can be the cause of an overheating transmission and can lead to transmission failure.
AAMCO Colorado can assist with your overheating transmission. We will assess any issues and determine the cause of your overheated transmission. A Power Purge flush may be needed to flush the old transmission fluid out and replace your transmission with new fluid to avoid future overheating. We will additionally check for any other transmission issues to get your transmission in proper working order.
